Foot Problems That You Can Get from Running and Athletics

When you buy athletic shoes that are specifically designed for your athletic lifestyle, you want a shoe that will not only assist you to keep your body in great shape but you will also want to experience lesser injuries as well.




There are a lot of foot problems that are caused by running. Usual examples of this are stress fractures that can occur when training regularly. A fracture may occur on the ankle or foot because of increased exercise and can result to an injury. They are usually the small cracks in the bone that builds up when the surrounding muscles becomes very tired. Stress fractures commonly happens along the major bones that are usually affected by running, walking which are the feet, ankle or lower extremities.

Commonly, your foot will pound more than 800 times when you are running mile. You need to take care of your feet because running and walking can cause a lot of stress on them. Due to frequent long distance running, sore and injured feet are common to runners and athletes. Continous running on a daily basis will aggravate the pain and injury if you are suffering from heel spurs or ankle tendonitis.

Numbness is also a usual complaint of runners. This is the tingling sensation that you would usually feel on your feet and toes which is not related to the cold weather. Tight shoes or shoe laces can be the cause of this. Your big toe can feel numbness but it can also be affected by bunions as well. The medical condition wherein the big toe joint enlarges is called Bunions. This is commonly caused by too much pressure and can also swell.

Another foot issue experience by runners is corns. These are hard and painful lumps on your feet as a result of constant rubbing or pressure from shoes that are also too tight. Make sure there is enough space in the toebox, because when your toes can't wiggle, your shoes are tight.

A lot of runners can also suffer from foot blisters. They are the tiny bubbles of skin filled with clear liquid that you can found anywhere on your foot. They can be painful especially when you are doing long distance running. They are mostly caused by the friction of your feet between your socks and skin. Other causes of blisters include tight shoes, small shoes, moisture and sweaty foot.
