Golden Delicious contains 82 metric units and is yellow-green while Granny Smith contains 80 calories with green skin. McIntosh, on the other hand, contains 80 units and is green.

Apples contain nutrients that are very important for healthy development and growth. These nutrients include antioxidants, non-saturated fats and phytonutrients. It is important to note that apples contain absolutely no cholesterol, making them a very healthy choice indeed.

Apples ensure that the body gets the required levels of necessary vitamins and minerals. Consumed on a daily basis, they will assist greatly to keep the body in a healthy condition on both the short and the long term. The list of nutrients found in apples is long and the benefits are several, including protection of the body from cancer-causing elements, improved metabolism, among others.

On top of all this, apples assist in improvement of metabolism. This is possible because they are a great source of B-complex vitamins. These vitamins assist in digestion and thus improve on the overall well-being of the body.

Apples are available in many colors and shades. Although the skin is known to contain a good presence of nutrients, it is recommended to avoid eating it unless the source of the apples is known. This is because apple farmers spray pesticides and remnants of these are likely to be left on the skin.

Whenever there is a craving to take a snack, instead of going for the obvious options like biscuits, chocolate or cake, it is wise to consider what is contained in each of these snacks as compared to the amount of calories in an apple, without forgetting the nutritional benefits. With this consideration, the obvious choice for a snack should in most cases be apples. The benefits of this wonder fruit thus are immense and it is very sweet, thus fun to eat.
